Tips: Planning Your Wedding Reception Menu

Your wedding reception menu can be as basic or as extravagant as you wish. It can also become very costly if you do not look into various options. Before making quick decisions, consider the following tips to help you plan you reception meals.

Decide if you will include table service or a buffet style before you plan your wedding reception menu. Having servers generally allows wedding guests a choice between two meats and are given a couple of sides of vegetables with a salad. Where as with a buffet, many more food options are given. Note that both types of food service can both be expensive, depending on the foods that are served. Chicken is a lot less cheaper compared to beef. Expect to pay a fee per person when it comes to your wedding reception menu; regardless if it is a buffet or table service.

Choose if you will have the wedding reception menu put together by the reception venue or a caterer. Ask for references from a few caterers before making any agreement. Speaking of agreements for a wedding reception menu, make sure that you get a signed contract from the venue or caterer in case they no show.

Stick within your budget when planning your wedding reception menu. If you cannot afford more expensive per head options then consider planning your wedding reception menu during a cheaper time of the day such as lunch time when meals are less costly. If you cannot afford an actual wedding reception menu, server appetizers such as meatballs or even deli cold cut trays with buns to save on costs.
